GENERAL CAMP INFORMATION

Cello Fury Rock Camp for Strings is an annually held music day camp located in Pittsburgh, PA and run by the members of Cello Fury. Currently entering its 15th year, Cello Fury Rock Camp provides young string players an alternative musical experience beyond the traditional, classical style of playing. Each day, campers play in a rock orchestra, practice with their own rock bands, participate in masterclasses, and attend rock orchestra sectionals. Special workshops take place daily, which change from year to year.  Past workshops have included music composition, songwriting, world music, improvisation, world drumming, steelpan, jazz, fiddling, fitness for musicians, music photography, martial arts, music promotion, screen printing, and more!  A performance by the campers takes place following camp for parents and friends to attend.  In addition, campers have had the opportunity to perform the national anthem for the Pittsburgh Pirates on field at PNC Park!

Cello Fury Rock Camp is open to violinists, violists, cellists and bassists of all levels. "Junior" Rock Camp is for ages 7 to 12 and "Senior" Rock Camp is for ages 12 to 17.  Returning campers who are 18 can still participate, and college-level students can work as counselors and teaching assistants.  If you have siblings in different age groups, but would like them to be at the same camp, please let us know and we can make accommodations.

Camp Faculty includes Cello Fury performers Simon Cummings, Nicole Myers, and Cecilia Caughman; upper strings faculty, Regina Ketter, Kathleen Andrews and Jason Neukom. Guest performers from around the country are featured daily in interactive, real-time sessions with the campers.
